A romantic medieval city, Rodez is stacked with culture and owes its magic to the vibrant pink sandstone used in its buildings.
One of the grandest is the warlike cathedral that looks like no church you’ve seen before, and was made to keep attackers out as much as invite worshippers in.
The city is the hometown of Pierre Soulages, one of France’s most acclaimed living painters who has been honoured with a brand new museum full of his painting and sculpture. (thecrazytourist.com)
Unlike almost any other church in the world, the western facade is completely closed off by a menacing sheer wall of stone, with nothing more than arrow loops until you reach the rose window soaring above the Place d’Armes. (thecrazytourist.com)

The church has rich interiors, where the choir stalls and rood screen possess astounding 15th-century workmanship, and the various chapels have marble tomb sculpture and murals from the 1300s. (thecrazytourist.com)

Henri Grialou was ordained to the priesthood on 4 February 1922 and assumed the new religious name of "Marie-Eugène de L'Enfant-Jésus" upon entering the order.
At his ordination he said: "I am a priest, a priest for eternity ... tomorrow I shall hold You in my hands and I will be giving You, Jesus. You will be mine and You want to associate me to Your sacrifice ..." (wikipedia.org)
Fr. Gabo and Fr. Kiko celebrated the mass at Rodez Cathedral. It is the same Eucharistic table that Fr. Marie Eugene of the Child Jesus used during his ordination. What a grace!
But after his ordination, he felt that he was being called to become a Carmelite priest. So, just after 20 days of his ordination as a priest he began his novitiate in the Discalced Carmelites on 24 February 1922 in Avon close to Fontainebleau and his new name demonstrated his deep inspiration for the Little Flower; once he entered he said of it: "My vocation is certain." Henri Grialou, now Father Marie Eugene of the Child Jesus was received into the order with his new name and received the Carmelite habit on 10 March 1922. (Wikipedia.org)
This is Father Marie Eugene of the Child Jesus with his sister, Berthe.
After the mass, we went on foot to the Carmel monastery for a short visit.
With co-pilgrims from Angat, Bulacan
in Carmel, Rodez.
With some pilgrims from Infanta, Quezon just right outside the cathedral. 'Twas freezing cold!
Trying to squeeze the three big groups of Taiwan, US-Filipino, and Filipino in one frame. Sige, paki hanap na lang ako! Hahaha!
From Notre Pere:
"Today, holiness needs to overflow, it needs to reach everyone, permeate all walks and states of life. This is a necessity not only for the consecrated life, the state of perfection, but also for any way of life in the world [...]
There, too, we have to be saints, just to be saved. Mediocrity is no longer an option. "
A living witness;
Priest for all eternity;
Holiness he is.
