How I wish I can have one near my place so I can have all the time to walk reflectively...
The labyrinth is a sacred circle with a single path that leads to its center. Walking the path lends itself to prayer and meditation. The kinesthetic style of prayer is especially valuable during those times when words cannot express the depths or heights of our experience.
1. On the Threshold- shoes are removed… You may even bend to touch the ground to connect with the energies of the earth and the labyrinth. Bless with holy water as an absolution and purification to receive God's presence. Pause for a while in front of the entrance and say a short prayer to focus and to call for a guide.
My Four Movements:
On the threshold – shoeless, I felt the coolness of the earth, helping me to remember that I need to be grounded at times… truly an act of humility on my part… I need to let go of things not essential in my life…
Be with me in my listening.
Open my heart, mind and body to receive.
Spirit of God,
I hold in my heart
the gift you have given to me.
However confusing, however clear,
I accept it as your gift for me today.
May I savor it and respect it
until I understand
the treasure that it is. Amen.
