This particular reflection on "Getting Your Priorities Straight" caught my attention because of its practical and straightforward insights. I would like to share this reflection with you...
(Matthew 11:28 TEV)
Your schedules are too busy.
You have so many irons in the fire that the fire is about to be put out.
You're smothering it.
How do you know when you’re doing too much in your life?
How do you know when you're out of God’s will?
How do you know if all the things you’re doing are what God expects you to do or if you just put those expectations on yourself?
The answer is simple: You’re always tired.
It is not God’s will for your life to always be tired.
God never intended for you to go around with that heavy a load.
“Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying your heavy loads,
and I will give you rest” (TEV).
What's got you burdened?
Most of us carry a yoke of burden that we’ve put on ourselves because of unresolved guilt and unrealistic expectations.
We’re trying to prove that we matter.
You matter to God.
You don’t have to do anything to matter to God.
We put all these burdens on ourselves.
How should you deal with it?
God's yoke is not light and easy,
but to live in the center of God’s will is a lighter load
than to live out of God’s will.
What do you think that looks like?
There were many instances in my life when I truly experienced being sooo tired that I have to be dragged either to go to bed or to the table just to eat.
This reflection of Rick Warren was truly an eye-opener for me.
There were instances that I really do feel tired but I was happy.
But there were instances where I am not a"happy camper" about my work.
So I guess I now know the reason... I am doing sooo much in my life.
My plate is overflowing...
My mind is going berserk, even multitasking just to get things done and over with, and IT IS NOT HEALTHY!
Time to change my game plan ...
Get some rest for heaven's sake Kitte!
God did not intend for me to be so tired and go around with that heavy load.
Now, I know...
and yet overwhelmed by your love for me.
I thank you that there is no human experience
that I might walk through where your love cannot reach me.
If I climb the highest mountain you are there
and yet if I find myself in the darkest valley
of my life, you are there.
Teach me today to trust you more.
Teach me today to be hopeful.
Teach me today to be grateful.
Teach me today to love you more.
Help me to rest in that love that
asks nothing more than the
simple trusting heart of a child.
In Jesus name, Amen
Yan ang sabi ni Manang!
Thank you Kuya Ali for sharing this reflection from Rick Warren :)
