"It is Jesus that you seek when you dream of happiness;
He is waiting for you when nothing else you find satisfies you;
He is the beauty to which you are so attracted;
it is He who provoked you with that thirst for fullness that will not let you settle for compromise;
it is He who urges you to shed the masks of a false life;
it is He who reads in your hearts your most genuine choices,
the choices that others try to stifle.
It is Jesus who stirs in you the desire to do
something great with your lives,
the will to follow an ideal,
the refusal to allow yourselves to be
ground down by mediocrity,
the courage to commit yourselves humbly
and patiently to improving yourselves and society,
making the world more human and more fraternal."
“Young people of every continent,
do not be afraid to be the saints
of the new millennium!
Be contemplative, love prayer;
be coherent with your faith and generous
in the service of your brothers and sisters,
be active members of the Church
and builders of peace.
To succeed in this demanding project of life,
continue to listen to His Word,
draw strength from the Sacraments,
especially the Eucharist and Penance.
The Lord wants you to be intrepid apostles
of his Gospel and builders
of a new humanity”. PJPII
Prayer for Discerning God's Will
My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going.
I do not see the road ahead of me.
I cannot know for certain where it will end.
Nor do I really know myself,
and the fact that I think that
I am following your will does not mean
that I am actually doing so.
But I believe that the desire to please you
does in fact please you.
And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing.
I hope that I will never do anything
apart from that desire.
And I know that if I do this,
you will lead me by the right road,
though I may know nothing about it.
There will I trust you always,
though I may seem to be lost
and in the shadow of death.
I will not fear, for you are ever with me,
and you will never leave me
to face my perils alone.
(Thomas Merton)
I believe the Lord calls us in many different ways.
It is up to us to say "yes" or "no" to His call.
As for me, I am in my journey to make that
commitment to serve Him and Mother Church.
I pray that when I say "yes" to that commitment,
I am worthy to be called his disciple of
faith, hope and love.
